Abstract:

The concentration dependence of the bulk properties of AlGa melts are studied on employing self-association model (SAM). The analytical expressions for the bulk properties such as free energy of mixing, activity, heat of mixing, entropy of mixing, concentration fluctuations are deduced at a given temperature. The model parameters are estimated on using the experimental data of volume of the constituent metals and excess free energy of mixing for AlGa melts at 1023 K. The theoretical data of the bulk properties are compared with the correlated experimental data which illustrate well harmony. The results indicate that the segregating nature of AlGa melts at 1023 K. The interaction energy parameter is found to be temperature dependent.
